Pros

It gets a 4 from me for 3 minor 1. Which is surprising with how many complaints there are.

Smaller footprint on the counter, but seems to brew similar. The pot is a great size for me and it's the only pot i've ever had that doesn't spill when you pour a cup. The carafe is well made for both the coffee and espresso sides of the machine.

Medelco #4 cone permanent coffee filter.

The expresso side works wonderfully and the steam vent puts out good pressure. The machine steams milk very well.

Cons

The carafe has a weird spout that leaks water down the side if you don't pour fast. It frequently overflows even without the filter folding over into the basket. Often if it doesn't overflow, the brew is so weak you can see through it.

There is no backlight on the recessed clock so it is very difficult to set without a flashlight. It is very easy to accidentally turn on the coffee when programming. This is a multi-hundred dollar plastic mess.

I have used my krups machine for 10 years now, until it finally died today.

Price

Not even two years ago i bought this machine for $107 from amazon.

Now amazon lists the price at $677 and up.

I'd love to get one for my daughters, but right now they are priced high and in demand.
