Pros
The rain gauge works great, easy to use, acurrate based on stations near me. It seems to be very accurate and reads in the hundredths of an inch. Replaced the batteries in the receiver and unit came to life.
Cons
Ws9005u-it rain gaugesystem is junk. Technical specifications for this product are inaccurate. It is lucky to measure half the rainfall compared to a manual rainfall gauge.
Display works, but its not registering anything from the transmitter. Inductor is not registering the passing of the magnet. Have to go thru resetting it about once a week. When you change the batteries in the receiver, it drops your cumulative data.
Online the model number and item has been discontinued for awhile. They expire in 2023 and 2026 per the pkg &. I e-mailed la crosse, and nothing.

I had to take out the batteries for a few hours when the temperature dropped to below freezing and it started to rain but wouldnt read the signal

Still wouldnt work with new fresh batteries until the unit warmed up to room temperature

As is usual today when a manufactures customer service is asked specific or technical questions about their products they usually are not able to respond and many times dont even understand the question so their answer is worthless

I received two defective units before getting one that had been repaired and then sent out like the unit and woold like to purchase two more but do not wish to get more defective units i suspect la crosse technology has received a large shipment of defective units it took nearly three months before i had a workable unit their technicians were sincerely sorry for the problem

If you replace the batteries in the inside unit you have to reboot uninstall and reinstall batteries the outside unit i got mine on top of a fence so if i want to replace the batteries in the inside unit i need my ladder
