Pros & Cons
Pros
The lagostina is sleek, modern, and very high tech looking. The basic mechanism is still the same proven one that has been around for at least 20 years. Likely because of higher prices of gas and electricity.
The pot is made of italian stainless steel and it gleams with a beautiful shiny mirrored finish. I believe that these originate from italy and as i have read, folks prize these so much that they transport them from italy to their new homes here.
The pressure cooker reduces the cooking time dramatically without altering the taste. I stil use the little mini cookbook that came with it. These devices are very useful and have become trendy (pinterest and various modernist cooking sites will hook ... Read More
Just slide the lid on, and snap it into place. It has an ingenious design to interlock the lid with the lip of the pan and that in turn puts compression force on the seal.
Cons
Very awkward to close the lid and very small. Bought a buffalo stainless steel 15-quart pressure cooker instead.
Highlights
Quality
I am very happy with this product.
Its not the cheapest nor the most expensive but the quality, performance and ease of use make it by far the best one i have experienced.
The quality, finish, and attention to detail on this cooker are top of the line.
The lagostina works as expected, and all the food came out great, but i encountered a few gotchas.
Price
The only real negative is the price.
Packaging/appearance
The box arrived a bit beat up (vine items occasionally get less than stellar packaging), but the cooker was in great shape.
Competitiveness
I like that it fits nicely in my fridge with a corelle plate on top without taking up a lot of horizontal space, unlike indian ... Read More
You either need to align the handles in a certain way, or do some kind of gymnastics to get the lid into the pot.

But in its beauty it does not come out as beautiful after several uses

It makes the food prone to stick and burn on the bottom

In the classic design because of the way the lid grabs the lip of the pan a rather large seal is required and the steam pressure to the seal is not compression force

So the classic seals cant survive as long as in the lagostinas design
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
You see the ingenuity here is that the lid when closed is under the lip and inside the pot so the pressure pushes it towards the lip and the gasket seal tape is compressed between the two
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
In that design the pressure pushes the lid to separate from the pot so the pressure of the steam does not help to compress the gasket instead it tries to blow it outwards
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
For this reason if the gasket loses body due to shrinkage or if it gets a nick or roughness on the very top then it cant seal well anymore thats the older classic designs of other pots with the bulky gaskets
