Yes it's white plastic, but for the price it is worth it.
It does work with the screen in and i highly recommend you have a screen to prevent any bugs from passing through.

Needs to be cleaned every few months or dust can clog the fan and motors causing it to malfunction

There is nothing fancy about it if you need to exhaust rather than blow in you just flip it around
