To be fair the rim diameter is 16 cm but the internal diameter of the saucepan reduces from the rim downwards to a diameter of 14 cm

6 cm from end of handle to opposite lip of saucepan is fine though its closer to 36 cm

I have returned this 16 cm item and ordered the 18cm version
