Pros & Cons
Pros
Beautiful tea kettle with a lovely whistle. I wish that the spout top was a stainless material rather than plastic.
Supreme beauty and craftsmanship. Works great. Looks great. So classy and beautiful. Zero worry purchase.
Cons
No one buys a le creuset product because it is the cheapest thing on the market. Have they succumbed to the ‘bottom line’ business philosophy where quality and brand name become secondary to maximum profit and ceo’s bonuses?
The whistle and spout melt when you raise the spout cap. The steaming hot water spills all over your table. The lid is very tight.
Cycle of tea time discouragement. Handle is not thermally insulated.
Pretty, but poorly built. Pretty much fails at everything besides looks. Many of the reviews relating a similar experience are recent.

Unfortunately, the kettle whistle mechanism broke off in less than a year of moderate use.
Now you have that awful paper backing, stuck with glue on the beautiful finish.
Price
It may be pricey, but this kettle works like a champ, maintains heat well after being taken off a burner, and looks great to boot.
Price point is a little steep, but no complaints.
Given how long we've had our other pieces, we figured the additional cost was worth the investment.
Packaging/appearance
Looks great on our gas stove too.
Competitiveness
I love le creuset and all their products, but they have to get the thailand plant to use better grade stickers.
