Pros & Cons
Pros
This is the only ceramic fp i could find that checked all the boxes, so it's worth the price. The plunger is simple, compresses the beans after they've steeped, and allows all the coffee water to exit the caraf w/o any grounds. The only complaint is t... Read More
The shaft is tightened with a small steel nut on the inside of the lid and a threaded steel knob on the top. The extra bit of effort is a small nuisance, but not enough to put me off this good press. It's easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
I am now settled in with this le creuset model. My it guy loves it when i have a problem and he can come in the morning.
Cons
Be cautious with purchasing this press. This one is different and i would caution purchasing it if it's your first. I am heartbroken and will not buy another since i can’t afford to spend so much on something that only lasted me three months of what i... Read More
The nozzle is not tapered sharply enough. This causes the plunger to be uneven all the way down. It leaks from the bottom in a wide coffee ring.
There's no guard and no lip, so it's a dreadful design. The lid is ill-fitted, there ends up being coffee sludge in your cup.
Highlights
Quality
Quality, easy to clean, and has the expected weight based on the material
Excellent quality that you would expect from le creuset.
The steel shaft of the press goes through an opening in the stoneware lid.
This is the first french press i’ve had where it’s literally impossible to pour without it dripping down the front.
Price
Very affordable way to make amazing coffee
By "effort" i'm not referring to my research, my experimentation with techniques and grinds (that part was interesting), or the... Read More
I know it’s a little pricy, but so worth it.
The lecrueset is definitely expensive, but worth the expense.
Packaging/appearance
This one is so beautiful, and i love the way it looks displayed on my counter.
Competitiveness
I bought and used several electric drip machines, a nespresso unit, and and two well-rated european models.
That company now makes a similar model, although without a craftsman's small details.
Do a good comparison before buying here.
