Pros & Cons
Pros
Works good on both single pole snd 3-way circuits. Takes up less room in outlet box than other dimmers. Brand is top tier vs standard builder grade switches. Now days most switches have wires that you connect to wall wiring with wire nuts.
Bought it for use with a feit electric led light fixture. It is connected to 8 led recessed lights at 9 watts each. Had installed led lighting at 380w. Each dimmer switch controls about twelve 11w led bulbs.
These dimmers have a calibration setting to set the minimum brightness. It has a slider on the side that lets you adjust the brightness. The bottom end of the dimming range is adjustable to accommodate different dimmable led light bulbs.
The dimmer bar is thick enough that you don't have to fumble around to find it. The rocker works just as well. Hard pressed to find a better dimmer of higher quality with such broadness of compatibilities.
Cons
Bright enough to see in the dark, but not bright enough to be an eyesore. On/off switch operation is rough. I suspect the changeable-color frame around the switch is too flimsy.
While it dims tungsten and philips warm glow bulbs just great, it definitely flickers and blinks on ecosmart bulbs. If you dim both sets of lights they flicker terribly at the lowest setting.
Highlights
Quality
Easy to install and use, definitely useful in the kitchen and anywhere you have a lot of can lights so it’s not so bright.
This is a high quality part that works great with led bulbs.
I connect with a couple different led lights, due to is heavy duty design, its dimming function in low edge is not good at all,... Read More
Neither of these dimmers makes any noise even when the leds are dimmed to their minimum (although the bulb do not the recessed lights).
Price
Worth the extra few dollars since switches last so longi cannot imagine how people lived before illuminated switches….
A lot of inexpensive led bulbs are not dimmable, and will not work well with these dimmers.
Seem to me that someone is buying these dimmer switches currently and returning them with $2 switches.
Price was certainly reasonable for this type of switch.
Packaging/appearance
Today i received a $2 used leviton switch (all damaged) inside of the packaging of the $27 legrand dimmer switch.
I'm very disappointed that the amazon fulfillment center didn't notice this considering that the switch inside the package does... Read More
The package has color "face plates" to match your decor.
Competitiveness
Easy to install, i already know the legrand quality as compared to the brands carried by bigbox stores.
Unlike less expensive dimmers, these have a calibration setting to set the minimum brightness of your lights.
Bought it for use with a feit electric led light fixture, and this brand was listed as compatible on feit's website.
Cheaper brands fail with weird led watt levels or create a flicker on bulbs at the dimmest setting.
