On almost all of them the illumination in the toggle switch lever which illumination is supposed to be on when the switch is in the off position so you can find the switch in the dark is quite dim much dimmer than traditional illuminated light switches

This particular fault appears to be not with the small light in the toggle lever itself but with whatever mechanism in the switch is supposed to deliver power to the toggle lever light when the lever is in the off position this is discernible from the fact that nudging the switch lever to the left or right often causes the illumination temporarily to work or not work
