Pros & Cons

Pros

I'm a photographer and use this reader daily. It has been reliable and fast for offloading cards. Works with both sd and cf cards.

Transferring 441 raw images (24 gb total) from a cfexpress card was quick and painless. It's like waiting on your modem to connect you to aol versus how we just always have internet on and available at all times now. Supports the higher uhs-i 150 mb/s...  Read More

My only complaint is with the ridiculously short usb cable. The build quality seems sturdy. Very compact and very good for this price.

Cons

Not worth my time to debug. Cannot be read or played by my video editing software (blackmagic design and corel video studio) i guess my only recourse is to send it back to the manufacturer.

Stop it lexar, just stop, be truthful in your advertising and stop being misleading. Do not buy. Buy something else. Basically, buyer beware.

Quality

Has a high quality feel to it and has never failed to read a card.

This reader has very fast transfer rates, my only downside of it is that the rubberized coating of the reader is pretty easy to scratch up.

Instead of ~90 mb/sec with pretty old transcend rdf-5 supporting uhs-i only

That used to be a painfully slow process but i'm now getting nearly 800 mb/s!

Price

Price is right as well especially if you want to grab an extra one for your bag.

So if you are like me and use a desktop pc be ready to fork out another $15-25 for a longer 10gbit+ cable.

Shipping

It was pretty fast to upload or copy pictures in and out of website.

Competitiveness

Compared to transfer speeds a few years ago this is a huge time saver.

Works fine with other brand cards, no issues with heating up.

I have had better experince with no name chinese brand vs the sandisk and you probably will too.

Disclaimer this is a short term review as i owned this for less than a month

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I like everything about this reader except the cable that comes with it

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The cable is 1234 which is an impressive size for an adult film star but when it comes to cables it is miserably short

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I guess it is not a problem for laptop users but most photographers who need high transfer speeds use a desktop setting

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

My desktop is under my desk so i have to crawl under the desk every time i need to download photos

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The cable is also very thick i guess it is needed for the transfer speeds listed below and that makes it even more cumbersome to use with a desktop

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

With a generic cable it was only capable to reach 40 megabytesec 320 mbitsec

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

So if you are like me and use a desktop pc be ready to fork out another 1525 for a longer 10gbit cable
