Pros & Cons
Pros
The handle has a no-slip silicone grip and has a great ergonomic design. Feels very sturdy and the weight is balanced, nicely. It's also lightweight and easy to carry.
Some sharpening is needed out of the box. It's very easy to sharpen, so you can keep it in top condition. It sharpens up nicely.
The hatchet is sturdy and well made. It's made from high-quality stainless steel and has a sharp, durable blade. The covert remains securely on the hatchet when stored.
Great splitting axe to keep in overlanding gx460 for the occasional firewood splitting. No vibrations when chopping. It chops/cuts stuff as expected.
Cons
The head of the hatchet is too small and lightweight to cut more than a presplit 1/2 piece of douglas fir into kindling. The handle itself, as its fiberglass, is unrepairable. No warranty options through amazon.
When swinging, the weight is very far forward and not very controllable as it would be with a more well balanced axe. Edge of the metal chipped/bent. So due to the above this is a throwaway tool once its broken.
Highlights
Quality
This kind of great customer service gives me further confidence in the quality of their products.
I’m impressed with the quality of this hatchet, one that will serve me well around the house and camping.
I have a so-called boy scout hatchet, but the quality of this so-called “survival hatchet” is much higher.
I also have fiskars x27 and frankly, this seem to have better steel quality.
Price
Most importantly, it works for its intended purpose and the price is not too bad.
This is a quality little hatchet and at this price was better than expected.
Packaging/appearance
The slim sheath wasn’t just an afterthought or cheap packaging choice—it’s another reason to buy the hatchet.
Competitiveness
The hatchet is made from high-quality stainless steel and has a sharp, durable blade.
It was very well attended by mary from lexivon.
It just looks small, but it splits like a champ.
