I also hate when panels are too bright and this is just fine (little more than 600 nits), gamer mode 2 setting is my choice.
I realized woled are the best fit for my use-case as i prefer a lit room to a completely dark one.
If i use brighter woleds i feel a terrible eye strain after few minutes.

Also 240 hz is more than enough for me competitive fighting games and occasionally single player games
