The company that sells it is great to deal with. Appears durable and cord may be limiting in some regards.
Blu-ray playback software requires two codecs and media player. The codecs, if you have them, are a part of your computer's video card. Vlc media player is open source and free of charge to use.

Lg drive works fine in a few hours (maybe sooner, i haven't tried). But it seems to be a great drive, now that it's updated! Both drives are great, and you won’t be making a mistake purchasing either one.
Cons
The unit constantly connects and disconnects from my new pc when connected to any usb port. No, not a new unit but a refurbished unit. Also the internal ventilator is very noisy. But it can't be repaired.

Wasted some good money believing that an m disc approved burner would come with quality software.
Nice product, works like it is supposed to so far.
Price
The price is more than reasonable considering the quality, and i couldn't be happier with it.
Im not ready to bridge that price gap yet, so it's a problem for later (if it's a problem at all).
Shipping
The drive is very quiet and has a fast spin-up and read speed.

It pretty much worked right out of the box.

Love the speed of coping blu-ray disc
I tried two smaller, cheaper, off-brand external blu-ray drives before this one, and both failed after i ripped about three discs.
Both for burning blu-ray video disks and for playing back blu-ray movies on my mac using aiseeoft mac blu-ray player.

After 6 burns 3 verbatim m disc bdr and 3 verbatim mitsubishi kagaku bdrs only 1 m disc successfully burned
