Of course that doesnt necessarily explain why my grandmothers front loader from the 40s50s didnt mold

In any case the new seal was identical to the original except that the new one didnt have a manufacture year and was from a different mold apparently

I found it odd that the year wasnt depicted like it was on the old one as it would be nice to know when the seal was made
