At first it did not work with my garage door opener and i wrote how to resolve this below so others can benefit

Prior to changing this out the linear gd00z would not open or close the door while i had the 398lm smart controller attached

I had read in other reviews on amazon that the smart controller may be the problem but there were no details posted on the specific models which did work

This didnt work initially with my liftmaster elite series 3850p

It turns out that you cannot have 2 wired controllers with the 3850 series and liftmaster states this in the owners manual

So i ordered a wireless 378lm controller from liftmaster 17 to replace the wired controller on my garage wall

That left the wired controller hookup available for the linear zwave
