Pros & Cons

Pros

The mechanic's stethoscope is still a useful tool and has saved me time and frustration when diagnosing mechanical issues. Works great, already solved engine 2 issues using this thing. Some say they tried bending them to ease off on the pressure and i...  Read More

This stethoscope comes with both the direct-contact rod and a listening cone. The hard wire probe helps locate the noise and the suction cup works. Ideal for helping pin point the exact location of an annoying hard to find mechanical sound.

The funnel amplifier works like a charm. It picks up sound and amplifies it a lot.

Cons

One of the earplugs is blocked by a tube of plastic. The metal is too stiff and hurts your ear canals. Ear pieces are very uncomfortable. Way to tight on ears, hurts your ears every time.

It works (somewhat), and i assume it would be a decent (inexpensive) automotive stethoscope, but i can't say for sure because mine came broken (see pics). Not a lisle tool. I beg you to spend the extra $10 on a different one.

The hard wire probe helps locate the noise and the suction cup works ideal for locating inner area sound.

Transmits vibrations and noise to earpieces with incredible volume

I was not prepared for how well a real stethoscope would work.

Price

Very reasonably priced and works very well.

With vehicle parts cost out of control you cant really afford to guess anymore.

Packaging/appearance

Came in a box with a very heavy battery on top of it - was worried it might have been broken.

Only complaint is it came without any instructions whatsoever and package looked opened / returned.

The attachments slip into the end of the pickup tube

Honestly if you can figure out how to use this ‘scope or how to bendshape the earpieces to be more comfortable or how to drill out one of the ear tubes if it’s blocked which definitely is a defect then you just don’t need this device any problem you might be able to track down with it would definitely be beyond anything you should be attempting to repair yourself
