Then i realized the simple answer something that is very important to know and unfortunately most tracks and fixtures don’t say anything about this so most customers get this all wrong

So here is the secret – when you are ready to install the light look at the metal contacts and note that one side has two of them and the other side only has one

Then look inside the track rail and you will see that one side also has two contacts on one side and one on the other side

Now start by holding the fixture so the contacts are in the same direction as the long opening in the track so you are ready to twist it 90 degrees in the direction that the side with two contacts will rotate toward the where the two brass rails are inside the track

Now here’s where most people get it wrong – before you rotate it pull the square part of the base away from the track toward the light fixture and you will find that it is spring loaded

Another helpful hinthere’s another hint that i find makes it easier and again something i never see printed anywhere – i find that track fixtures install just a little better when i rotate them clockwise to install and counterclockwise to remove i think the contacts are very slightly angled in a way that this works better
