Pros & Cons
Pros
Enameled pot is perfect for cooking chili or ant stews in and cleans up nicely as well as looks good. Great for stews, soups, and casseroles. I use is for dinners, sourdough bread which bakes perfectly and a good stir fry.
Cleaning is a snap if you read the instructions. No extreme scrubbing necessary. Cleanup is a breeze using a non-scratch scouring sponge.
The exterior graduated blue colors is incredible. The colors are vibrant and the blue was perfect. The lagoon color is a gorgeous color and arrived in perfect condition.
The lodge enamel cast iron dutch oven is a wonderful kitchen basic. This baby sizzles up meat during the browning process like no pan i’ve ever had. It allows me to follow recipes exactly as they are written without fear of making a soupy mess.
Cons
Lodge enameled is made in china, it says so on their website. There are some rust spots on the rim of the lid and where the enamel meets the exposed cast iron, the finish looks like it is starting to peel, like paint.
Amazon doesn't have a link to help - it goes directly to lodge. Not the same diameter as 6 qt.
Highlights
Quality
It heats evenly and anything i’ve made in it has turned out great.
Great color, very sturdy, bakes great bread, washes like a dream.
Ten years later it’s still in great shape despite frequent use.
It cleans easily and if anything is stubborn to remove, a little bit of powdered “barkeeper’s friend” takes care of it.
Price
I pay money for my stuff and would rather not have to pay out more money for a replacement.
Packaging/appearance
I had kept all of the packaging so it is was easy to repack and take to our local whole foods to return it.
I ordered the desert sage dutch oven thinking it would be the interesting creamy sage as is pictured, but it is a solid green sage.
Competitiveness
No need to buy a more expensive brand.
