Quality
In this day and age electronic devices are so disposable, but has logitech built an amazing, quality product.
Quality and consistency of connectivity far exceed current logitech line-up.
I believe the poor quality of current line-up has created a resurgent desire for older, higher quality, no gimmick product.
Very solid quality and great tracking, and mouse arrow is on point.
Price
It just does the job and the sale price was great.
Competitiveness
Logitech needs competition in the business/personal mouse category - clearly their monopoly is open space!

I usually get about 36 months out of the two aa batteries 3mo with cheap batteries 6 months with name brand duracell
