Highlights
Quality
I'm not an audiophile but the quality seems great and everything is working after pretty much daily use for 9 years.
Great sound, great quality for your money worth.
Lastly, the z-5500 has a lot of haters, so i would like to dispel some popular myths:-the rated 10%thd is atrocious!
The only issue is the light on the control panel has started to go dim, but everything else from craftsmanship to sound quality is a+.
Price
One of the best purchases i have ever made, especially considering they cost $175 when i bought them long ago.
For almost 2 grand (the price i'm reviewing right now) you can find a wireless version instead.
I will if i can find it for that price.
Packaging/appearance

Competitiveness
I have it in a 12x12 ft bedroom with a computer and monitor it packs plenty of power for that room.
Here's to another 10 years, the 2300 are amazing and the klipsch promedia 2.
The treble is slightly lacking; there is a rolloff above 16khz.
And its more than being boomy, or powerful, the sound is very well balanced and detailed.

The only little flaw they have is that the display on the control panel is barely lit apparently the backlight dies out with time so you wont see it clearly in a dark room

I also hear the control block heats up for some people apparently when used at high volumes for prolonged times so if you are going to use it at high volumes in a hot room it may be a potential issue ive seen people install all sorts of diy cooling solutions on it

Pods are only like 100 too so if anything goes bad the entire system is modular and you can usually just drop around 100 to fix it
