Pros & Cons
Pros
William golding’s novel lord of the flies serves as an allegory for the conflict within society. It is the story of a group of school boys, ages ranging from 6 to 12, who are marooned on an unknown island.
He is aware that the boys are devolving into uncivilized beings. He has a contagious obsession that quickly overtakes most of the older boys as well.
Our three main characters are ralph, piggy, and jack - all of which play integral parts to the story's ultimate outcome. Ralph struggles with the reality that order and productivity is nigh impossible to achieve under his leadership of the boys.
Cons
I wish i had splurged for the kindle version, though it cost nearly twice as much. The kindle edition is also sloppy. Quality of the hardcover is not worth anywhere near the $17 price tag.
Book is cut uneven and very small. You have to exert to keep it open as you read.
The publishers truncate the original manuscript, cutting nearly the first fifth or third off the book. I suspect that this is one of the editing problems that crept up behind chopping off the first third.
This bizarre novel seems structureless. I am almost at the end and the story still has not gripped me. The predictability of the plot ruins the build-up of suspense.
This book has major production flaws and is unreadable. A couple of times in the book there are vague references to a “war. This marks the book as supportive of conservative and authoritarian systems of political think.
