The novel follows a group of boys stranded on an uninhabited island after their plane crashes. The story follows their descent into savagery and loss of civilization. The boys at first work together then quickly descend introsavagery.
The struggle between savagery and civilization is something our own society has dealt with since the beginning of time. Society’s flaws come from the flaws of human nature.
William golding’s novel is one of the greats. Golding's writing is masterful.
Jack is a power-hungry antagonist who symbolizes anarchy. Piggy is smarter than anyone else; he symbolizes intelligence. Jack's tribe was camped on and killed and the twins were captured.
Cons
This bizarre novel seems structureless and flips back forth between different perspectives. The outcome is very predictable and much like other adventure-based book without a *.

The book was good quality and everything.
Lotf is one of those books that grips you, keeps you turning page after page.
Young boys can be unruly at best but, in the complete absence of adult supervision, everything decays into anarchy.
It seems that almost everytime that i buy a mass market edition, something is wrong with the binding, and they fall apart in my hand.

A classic book, perfect for student reading at an affordable price.
The price was right and the quality was good.
Overall, i think that for the money, it is worth the time it takes to read.

Incidentally the 34lord of the flies34 phrase is mentioned a few times in the book in some quite interesting and horrifying scenes that i think are well worth reading

Weve all heard of grown adults before that are worse savages than the tribe on the unnamed island and dont even have the basic sensibility of the typical 12yearold ralph and are highly incapable of feeling shame for uncivilized behavior
