I have existing fixed wideangle cameras that are recorded using blue iris software but after a recent overnight crime on the block where those cameras were only able to get a general description of the car i wanted to install something more capable

At night i set it to a fairly tight zoom and change the camera settings via a scheduled scene on my home automation system calling a http request on the camera so i can capture just the tags of all the cars driving by at night

Since the tags are reflecting the ir light emitted by the camera the exposure has to be very dark and i dont get other details beyond the shape of the cars lights but if i didnt want to be able to read the tags i could change the settings to get a very clear view of the overall scene
