Compatibility With Drives
Customers have had mostly positive experiences with the LSI 9300-16i SAS Controller HBA Card in terms of compatibility with various drives, especially when connecting multiple drives for NAS configurations. However, some purchasers encountered issues with larger capacity drives and needed to take additional measures to manage heat generation.
Highlights
Quality
I have been using it for a few months on 12 drives and have had no issues.
Great card when connecting a lot of drives.
Without the fans i nearly burned my fingers removing the card during my initial testing.
At the moment i have two of the 4 ports occupied and 8 drives running off of it.
Competitiveness
P16 firmware for this particular card (16i) can be found on truenas as broadcom only lists the 8i p16 firmware.
