Pros

It's fused and comes with two spare fuses. Small/fits on the bench well and used it as a convenient on / off ac switch.

Cons

The adjustment dial is extremely inaccurate. At low voltages the dial overstates the voltage. It's not consistent throughout the range so impossible to determine how much voltage you're getting without putting multi-meter probes in the second plug.

So far this device works as advertised and appears to be well constructed and designed.

I use the 5a daily along with a power meter i just bought off of amazon, great pairing.

Because the sliding light dimmer which i used before flickered, this way transformer does not flicker at all.

I've bought this one to replace my aging hacked together and falling apart 5amp one i shoved into a case.

Price

I can't afford them for my home lab.

Competitiveness

But again, 10a maybe a better choice to invest in something a little heavier power rating, over the 5amp.

If you were to buy just one, the 10a maybe your best choice for the small price increase, if you feel you'll never need the 20a one.
