Pros & Cons
Pros
The bx5 d2 is an outstanding value for the money. The base is pleasant and fills a bedroom. Greatest bang for the busk for monitors. Also a good upgrade to any cheap 2.
These speakers are amazing. They get very loud is you want them to. They have lots of punch, even when i play my guitar through them (pod hd pro) these really are a great sounding speaker.
The bass is crisp, trebles are accurate and light, and tenor voicing isn't muddy. The sound is still room-filling, but the bass is not overpowering. One thing you might consider depending on your genre is how the monitors handle sub bass.
Found them on sale for $161, and took the plunge. Apart from sounding heavenly, they also look gorgeous on my desk. It also delineates the sweet spot. They are (as stated by other reviewers) very subtle.
Trs and xlr connections are active at the same time, allowing the monitors to receive signals from two different sources without messing with cables or switches. I have them connected to my yamaha subwoofer and focusrite scarlett 2i4 usb audio interfa... Read More
Cons
M-audio sounds better to my ears. One speaker drops in volume, starts to cut in and out, and then puts out static. The quality of internal amp components is atrocious.

Highlights
Quality
Incredible hardware, simple, well built (if the person who built mine is still working lol).
I readjusted my eq for the needed flat response for sound engineering and i was extremely pleased with the results.
I used them for about two days and realized there was a buzz coming from the right monitor.
If you shut your laptop or computer while these are plugged in, they'll make a pop sound (undoubtedly bad for them).
Price
These were $219 at sam ash and i'm just as thrilled.
The bx5 d2 is an outstanding value for the money.
@ around 200, they nearly doubled in price.
Shipping
Arrived fast, had them up and running in minutes.
I didn't expect for them to arrive so soon and i got the monitors yesterday.
Competitiveness
Compare its size to the mackie 3-inch.
These are currently hooked up to a soundblaster x-fi platinum that i have running in audio creation mode.

If used with a pc you will be doing nearfield listening so there is no need for bigger more powerful speakers that probably wont fit on your desk anyway and require more energy and volume to sound good
