Highlights
Quality
Love it, is my second one, the previous last me about 10 years and really helps to keep knives on shape
The steel is definitely quality and worth the lifetime guarantee that mac provides for all their knives.
This steel/sharpener revived my worst case german knifes back to razor sharp.
None of ours worked well for my knives i had to stone sharpen to get a good edge.
Price
I am so happy with this what i feel is a very inexpensive honing rod.
This tool is also a very good value at the price.
Not cheap but given how much i've spent on my sharpening "collection," it's well worth it.
There are, however, $30 rods with nicer handles.
Shipping

My hone came last night and was so excited to try it.
Packaging/appearance
It comes beautifully packaged and is great for a gift.
So i called the leasing office and it turned out that the driver left the package with them - what a sigh of relief.
Competitiveness
Buy this one for the guarantee, it's far superior to wusthofs steels and ceramics!
This is a top of the line honing rod that i use to keep my knives sharp for competition bbq
In my experience it is comparable to spyderco extra fine ceramic but in a much more convenient design for honing.
The grit is about 2,000, compared to the white one, which is about 1,200 grit.
