Pros
It's by far my favorite knife for veggies--i use my other knives for other purposes. It really excels at slicing/chopping larger vegetables. The one complaint i can make against this knife is that it does not have a full-tang.
The fit and finish of mac's nakiri are superb. It compares well with my other nakiris and would recommend it to anyone. Its very nimble and is amazing at a chiffonade.
We wash and dry the knive as soon as done using it and it looks brand new. No rusting or discoloration.
This is the sharpest knife i have ever used. The steel in this knife allows it to hold its sharp edge longer. It can be sharpened more easily than stainless steel as well.
The mac knife is now my favorite and i am purchasing one for my sister. This knife is awesome. It is incredible.
Cons
There is no bolster and the other mac knives have a bolster. The top of the handle is not seamlessly attached to the blade. Cleaver cuts well, but rusted the first time i used it.

The mac knife is definitely worth the price.
Is effortless to use, able to make fine and consistent cuts.
Packaging/appearance
Sharp out of the box, amazingly sharp after a couple swipes on a 10000 stone.
Competitiveness
I got it 12 years ago and it has held up well—no rust spots, as some have complained of, but i don’t leave it lying around wet.
Bought as a gift for a home chef.
I got a $10 kiwi cleaver and a $10 winco kc 301 cleaver.

I had no experience using either kind of knife but thought the cleaver style would be easier to use to chop large veggies like squash and potatoes

I can see that im going to be using the mac knife 8 inch hollow edge chefs knife all the time instead of this knife

This is not a bad knife but the chefs knife is just way easier

I have a few very inexpensive nakiris but the tradeoff there is that they lose their edges very very quickly
