If you are a beginning programmer i would not start with this book however do yourself a favor go back and read the invent your own computer games with python book

For me i kept comparing what i was reading and learning to how i would do it in as3 and another piece would fall into place

This completeness is complimented well by the books amazing use of source code paired with explanations on how its doing what its doing and not just say what its doing and leaving the reader up to figuring out what the hell is actually happening
