Pros

Like buttah! Hard to find that kind of value today. Great troque for 3/8 drill. Power of this thing is unbelievable.

The one bonus that the b&d has over the makita is an adjustable speed control on the trigger. The more you press, the faster it goes. The reversing switch works opposite from my old drill.

It satisfies all my specs, including metal gears and drill housing. Full speed rpm is quite a bit higher than my old drill and it runs fast enough to nicely operate a small grinding wheel. It runs true, with a 3/8 inch (10 mm) chuck, with real key. It...  Read More

Makita 6404 is an old-school drill with great durability and reliability. I do all my dui projects with it and it never failed me. We are just handy homeowners, so there are other drills out there that professionals prefer, but for us, it's perfect.

This drill replaces a 40 year old drillthat finally became unusable. We have several other drills, but this one outdoes them all!

Cons

The trigger is so big that i have to hold the drill with just my pinky and ring finger. It's hard to holding the drill without accidentally press the trigger with my middle finger.

If you are looking for "old-school" durability and reliability -- instead of "new school" bells and whistles and inferior manuf...  Read More

Price

This is a simple, well made tool at a decent price.

It costs $119, whereas the makita is $77.

Competitiveness

My husband had a old sears dril for years.

Exactly as expected on power and size, would reccomend most makita products.

I lost my old craftman drill acquisted in 1977.

I compared this drill to many other name brands.
