As a novice, i am very happy with the build quality and would recommend.
Very satisfied with this high quality belt.
So still oem quality, but four stars instead of five for not identifying this in the product description.
Never broke any except when i got careless with the belt alignment adjuster on the sander and damaged the edge.
Packaging/appearance
It is no fun changing a belt every few minutes when the glue separates and the belt shreds.
Competitiveness
I've used one belt on a ridgid osolating sander for about three hours sanding very hard wood and it's just now wearing out.
The oem is the same 80 grit sanding belt that comes with the makita 9404 belt sander, and they had a weired odor.

The cheapie belts on amazon are worth less than nothing and i wouldnt use them again even if they were free

I also ordered the 10pack of makita 40grit right here and they are all branded as sankyo fuji star japan

Almost too easily it should be noted that these are sankyo belts inside a makita box

I saw another reviewer on amazon indicating the same find but also insisting the sankyo belts are manufactured in china and thus greatly inferior
