Pros & Cons
Pros
This vac is great for small jobs such as cleaning your car or cleaning up saw dust. It's not a replacement for a full size vacuum, but it has a lot of utility because of its size and portability. No longer have to use a corded vacuum for small job whi... Read More
The ridgid is great for cleaning up messes in the garage. It's bagless and hepa filtered, it seems to be easier to empty.
It only uses one battery and lasts for a long time. It helps if you already have a cache of makita tools.
My old dyson handheld would clog up within a few minutes of cleaning up the daily mess, so i sprung for this one. Suction works great and the blower feature is also great. Two power modes provides enough suction to pick up most things.
Cons
Makita shop vac is a huge disappointment. The hepa filter cuts down on suction when it gets wet, especially so if the hepa filter already has dust accumulated on it. The xlco2 has a rating of 45 cfm, while this vacuum is rated at 47 cfm (low setting) ... Read More
This is the first makita tool that hasn't wowed me. For us makita fans this one is a dissapointment. This one is an abomination of satan.
Replacement motor control unit is about $75 not including shipping. Too hard to return used though to amazon without original packaging materials. Should of stuck with the more economical brand for my use.
Highlights
Quality
Very well built, quality you would expect from makita.
This little vac, is well made, easy to use.
I would not buy again not enough suction , cumbersome
It was still working perfectly until it disappeared (it was either stolen or the wind blew it off the dock.
Price
Little pricey but paying for convenience rather than performance here
I just think it’s a little pricey for what it is.
Competitiveness
)of course it helps a great deal if you're already invested in makita tools and thus have a cache of batteries.
My field tools are all makita so i bought this one… can’t compare to other brands but it does the job.
Wish it had a little more suction compared to the milwaukee 18v
