Pros & Cons
Pros
The snub nosed design is only 6 long so it can get into tight spaces. For the tasks requiring high torque for large bolts, the driver struggles a bit but still gets the work done. Best drill by far and awesome screwdriver drill.
Makita lithium-ion batteries hold a charge much longer without self-discharging than the old nicads. My go-to workbench battery op tools are * 12v max ones because they are very compact and thus easy on my now 61 year old hands.
When a major brand chooses a color that differs from the classic theme, it is quite interesting for me to try it out. It's not a deal breaker, but it would've been nice to have.
These are lightweight and compact. Even though this set is engineered to be light, they still feel solid. The brushless motors are compact, powerful and efficient.
Makita m12 and m18 are both 18v powered impact and drill sets. They are much smaller and more compact than my m12 powered tool. They have 25% better ergonomics without the awkward battery bulge.
Highlights
Quality
Best drill by far and awesome screwdriver drill.
This is my third set lightweight powerful and good quality.
I personally have stopped buying the big d as quality seems to be slowly fading.
It made a horrible cracking noise whenever loosening or tightening the chuck.
Price
Happy to have found them on sale.
Overall, this is a great set of tools at a great price.
The small batteries help make the price but also make the units smaller so they will squeeze into tight spaces.
It's not a deal breaker, but it would've been nice to have.
Shipping
Unfortunately, this item was shipped to me used and the chuck on the drill was stuck/broken.
Packaging/appearance
I'm knocking a star off because the packaging and state it arrived in.
Product box was damaged and tools were dirty (no damage to the outer box so it was packed that way).
As if dirt got inside the box and the drills were resting in sand.
Competitiveness
6v drill was compact, light, and more powerful than a lot of higher voltage competitors.
As a regular milwaukee m12 and m18 user, this makita set has much better finite speed control over my milwaukee brands two fold.
In reality, a makita 18v battery is comparable to their "20v".
I assume its target is a super-compact tool smaller than the competitors but more powerful with 18v batteries.
