Pros & Cons
Pros
Great product for those needing blades for makita planner. Works perfectly and a perfect fit. Exactly as described and in the manufacturer's original packaging.
The kit replaces/upgrades the original set plate (part number 343433-9) that came with some makita 1900-b planners. The 2x4's were planed from paper thin on one side to full height on the other end. Carbide disposable blades give a better finish.
Cons
Replacing blades after sharpening or installing new blades should not be this hard. Luckily i was just peppered on my forehead.
The makita planer comes with a blade holder/setter but it doesn't seem to work with these carbide blades. As any woodworker knows if these blades, either of them, is off in the slightest way the wood being planed will come out angled or with divots. T... Read More

The original part was light stamped metal and only had two small areas which held the blades in place which i believe led to the blades becoming loose and damaged with use

I ordered this set as i thought there was a problem with that blade holder not holding the blades secure enough

The only down side is that you have to transfer the small blade adjusters and two screws from the stamped set that came with the planer to this set

I will admit that i caused the damage to the stock holders by hitting nails while planing down some of the kitchen yellow pine floor but these should have been included with the planer and not the light stamped metal ones that makita installed from the factory
