Highlights
Quality
The fence and clamp work well and the blade cuts through annealed steel quickly and precisely.
Very solid base, clamp and saw blade pivot point.
After cutting, there is no meltover metal to grind off, just bevel and weld.
Aluminum is a pain to cut with an abrasive tool, as the disc always loads up with metal.
Price
Definitely worth the extra money over a conventional abrasive cut off saw!
This machine worth every penny no questions ask.
Blades can be resharpened(my local supplier charges under $20)6.
The lock-down chain is kind of a joke on a nearly $500.
Shipping
The saw arrived on time and we having been using everyday since , it works great !
Shipping from amazon is terrible, however, 0 stars.
It just arrived today, left at my door in the factory box.
Usps would not deliver for some reason and i had to go pick up the package.
Packaging/appearance
Saw arrived with a broken swing blade guard due to inadequate packaging.
Poor package protection received with brokenhandle 100part number: 271072-4
This saw ships in its packaging only, which is a cardboard box with a few extra pieces of cardboard in it.
Makita needs to work on their packaging or needs to ship through another carrier.
Competitiveness
The cast table sets it apart from other similarly priced units.
Especially if you are comparing it to an abrasive saw (no comparison).

I often see people not push it hard enough when cutting large material

If you dont really push it the blade will just drag along the material and start getting hot

If you really give it the beans it will cut right though and not heat up the material

If youre not stalling the motor then youre not pushing it too hard
