Pros

Saw feels very smooth and initial cuts on 2x4 are very smooth, much better than my 15 year old * 10. Aside from that one caveat the mitre saw is flawless.

It amazes me how he raves about it every time i see him using it. I love makita products and this does not disappoint.

You have to be very gentle about not just swinging the saw around and letting the lock pin snap in under spring pressure. The different style of sliding rails really makes a big impact with how much space it takes up.

The detent override switch is a fantastic solution to not having to reach behind the saw to make adjustments. The laser is spot on, the brake is great. Miters are perfect and so are bevel cuts.

In terms of construction and function, it’s a great workhorse. The building is over 100 years old so we have alot of specialized molding and this saw has been awesome.

Cons

The care that makita takes in packaging this saw is non existent. The port is very small and turns at a 90 at the back causing it to clog on nearly every cut of anything bigger than 1x6 poplar. The blade is not parallel to rails. This particular produ... Read More

The plastic thumb lock lever that releases the rotational detent looked like it came through the box and got damaged in shipping.

The packaging was robust and they had styrofoam and padding where it should have been to protect it from rough shipping and handling.

I have a festool mini vac and with that connected dust collection is excellent no cleanup really.

The capacity is so much greater than festool as well as the power.
