Pros & Cons
Pros
The makita mac2400 is very quiet compared to the average airless pancake compressor. This is much quieter than any prior compressor i have owned. It is also quieter than my older air cooled model.
This is very portable, but not exactly light to move around by the hand-hold. I strapped it to a small lightweight wagon and i can easily wheel it wherever i need it. It's compact and has a comfortable handle that makes it fairly easy to manage--like ... Read More
The instructions tell you to run the compressor with no load for 20 minutes to perform the break-in. I'm a "handy-homeowner" and i've owned several compressors, all of which were oil-free pancake or similar style.
It's purrrfect for what i need. Ordered the ir dual tank at first. Double boxed for shipping. Anyways hope this helps someone.
Cons
The negative mark is really not for the product, but more as a warning to other buyers that you might want to buy some where else as you can not return the product. Makita equals zero quality. You’ve been warned.
It's just too close to make a full turn without contacting it. The bumping of transit may have made it rotate the correct way again. Makita could sell the repair kit for $15 to $20 easily.
After a year it is not building pressure above 80 psi. One of the tanks was dented also.
When i removed the oil drain plug with a wrench, the wrench ever-so-slightly rubs against the site glass. The drain valve is not at the bottom. Leak just below the drain.
Highlights
Quality
You won't be disappointed with this compressor, very high quality and fast to pressurize!
I like the very compact and sturdy construction.
After eight years it is not leaking at all.
Something cfm machine so you wont paint stuff with it but its awesome around the shop for air tools, air nailers and the such.
Shipping
Perfect delivery, amazon's 2 men and a truck!
Competitiveness
I have a craftsman compressor (similar psi capabilities to the makita) as well as a few pancake compressors, all "oil less".
Pound for pound, the price is very similar to the oil less craftsman, but it is far superior in every way.
While the makita is not a 2 stage compressor (with the 2 stage compressor price), it performs like one.
