Pros & Cons
Pros
The ridgid is a good and versatile tool at a great price. The makita has two adapters so that you can use other brand blades. Compared to other multi-tools i've owned (porter-cable and rockwell), this one is by far the best.
Makita is the best it won't disappoint. Worth every dime. Should have bought one sooner.
The makita is slightly heavier than the * i was using also. It is light, powerful and has extremely low vibration.
Used it to cut four 2x4 studs off flush in a hard to reach place. Allows blind and flush cuts that no other of my 30 or so tools can do. Enables you to make cuts that are impossible with other tools.
Highlights
Quality
Build quality is of typical makita fashion, very good.
Makita tools are bit more expensive compare it to other similar products, but i do like the feel and the quality of makita products.
With the time and aggravation it's saved me i would gladly have paid $250 without blinking an eye.
The difference in quality was immediately seen, felt and heard.
Price
Really good in tight spots where a sawzall is just too cumbersome.
Shipping
This tool will earn its money back and fast, especially in the world of remodeling/renovation.
Competitiveness
Compared to other multi-tools i've owned (porter-cable and rockwell), this one is by far the best.

I bought and returned an inexpensive off-brand saw because the sandpaper would not stay on the pad.
I actually own a 20v dc model oscillating cutter tool.
