So far i've only done a few things with it, but i'm impressed with the improvements they have made!
It drills holes like nobodies business with the 4 amp hour battery
The one with the hammer drill feature.
I have not seen any problems with the drill as of yet.

This my fourth makita 18v drill and i also own several other makita 18v tools.
Also, it requires makita 18v lithium-ion batteries with a star symbol (or off-brand equivalents).
Second one overheated while being used mixing thinset mortar.

If it’s not all the way on “1” or “2” the drill either won’t operate or makes horrible grinding noises

The only quark is that the led light placement tends to blocked slightly and doesnt shine directly at the work area or target
