Pros

The makita planer has tons of power and the largest dust port of any electric planer. The lift up side cover on it also allows you to get in close to an edge. The new way allows for a less obstructed exit of chips.

Cons

The front adjustable shoe is neither parallel nor square with the back plate. Well, i'm not convinced or impressed.
