The main differences between this generation and the previous generations besides the charging ability is that this radio is a bit heavier probably because there is now a charging option the color of this one is makita bluegreen which looks great there is one feature that i am not excited about

The power cable for the radio has a large heavy transformer kind of like a laptop power cable that is really annoying and not very practical for a portable jobsite type radio and at the current listed tool only price tag of 300 id expect a better cord type

The radio is jobsite rated and has an ip64 water resistance rating but i would be skeptical if the separate electronics of the separate power transformer would hold up to wet conditions so that means if im charging a battery the radio cant be outside if it is wet or raining

I would prefer a gasketed 2 prong grounded type stab in or even better would be a gasketed twist lock cordplug but having multiple wires and a separate transformer to manage keep dry on a jobsite and keep track of is an irritation for me
