It’s formed in the hive, from dha, which is present in the nectar of the manuka flower. The maillard reaction turns the dha into methygloxal, which makes the honey become the little powerhouse of healing that it is.

It really mellows out the sweetness in a way that creates a perfect balance between the monofloral tones and sugary-goodness of store bought sugar. It has a slight bitterness and a pepperminty / menthol aroma. Even herbal to me.

I am happy with it, though it is pricey, but that’s been my experience with manuka honey. Like it. It will not be wasted.

Regular honey may have trace amounts, but way too little to be beneficial in this manner.

Apparently (ive done some reading) its supposed to be great as an anti-microbial agent and for boosting stomach cultures, or something.

If you can afford it, i highly recommend it!

I find this to be an affordable balance and it tastes great!

It is impossible for a consumer such as myself to know whether this is over-priced or not and what the price is based on.

Packaging/appearance

It arrives well packaged and with the most delicious earthy taste to it.

Seal was broken and it leaked into the package.

Mine showed up in a lightly padded bag which i was scared of at first, but my container was just fine.

It comes in a plastic jar, which surprised me since the picture looks like glass.

Competitiveness

Much easier to control this honey than regular honey brands.

There are also many researches out there on the benefits of manuka honey.

Tried different ones like mgo 125, 725, 925 as well.

I usually use local raw honey, which is mostly wildflower or orange blossom, and it is so much different from manuka honey.
