Louder than the previous version. Keeps me from waking up from random noises in the night. I find myself not waking up before my alarm like i used to.

Sorry, marpac, your app stinks. Seems like the device has just worn out in 6 months. Prob to late to return it. I'm now outside of the return window, and am entirely frustrated.
The sound is passable. It gives off a faint almost imperceptible rattle/mechanical metallic noise. It is very disruptive to my sleep - i wake up every time the motor slows down/the sound “revs down.

25 years it has stopped working effectively.
Price
Im not rebuying this because i didn’t use the wireless option enough, so for me it’s not worth the extra price.
It’s not inexpensive, but the guarantee of many future nights of sound sleep is worth it.
Given the price, i would’ve expected this machine to last longer.
