Pros & Cons
Pros
The woburn has a volume knob that goes from 1 to 10 and i typically play it with the volume at 2 or 2. I had always been intrigued by the bigger, deeper and more powerful version. Perfect for a high volume party at home. The sound fills the room, and ... Read More
Woburn bluetooth speaker has great sound quality. Works great with a google mini or sonos. Similar to a stereo component system's quality than to a typical bluetooth speaker. Bluetooth is fine but if you want the clear base use an aux with your phone ... Read More
The grill on this first edition is the same as all the first edition marshall bluetooth speakers. All guitar combo amps come with a simple but functional handle and their 2 to 3x larger. It has that amazing vintage guitar amp look.
Unlike the kilburn, the woburn has to be plugged in in order to use. Not quite portable, but it is portable nonetheless. It is bulky and not the most convenient to move around, but well worth the sound quality.
Reviewer had trouble w the bluetooth initially w low output of sound, but unconnected the unit and replugged in and solved it. It has rca inputs so you can plug a turntable with a preamp into it.
Cons
This is so disappointing, as it was a birthday present for one of my daughters. Bluetooth issues are inexcusable for a $500 plus box. This is ridiculous on a box this price. Well, needless to say, never buying from them again.
Highlights
Quality
Tried 5 top of the line models and the sound quality was amazing !
I highly recommend its sound quality, ease of use and durability.
Another thing was the quality of the cable; the spiral wire broke off as soon as i unplugged it the first time.
Source should be turned down at first, as it will be extremely loud output if both the source and speaker are turned up high, c... Read More
Price
Got it on sale for $180 and well worth it.
In that light it is tremendous value.
I paid $309 for this woburn and the newer one at a great price of $399 just didn't warrant the extra money from me.
I read rave reviews though, but would never pay the amount of money on myself that was being asked for these speakers.
Shipping
What disappointed me and cost this review a star was the shipping.
At that point and time i knew this was the one.
But needs to be overpacked for shipment.
Packaging/appearance
Well i bought this thing and out of the box i was impressed with the packaging and quality overall.
The box arrived all smashed up and when i opened it, there were only two small pieces of styrofoam protecting the speaker!
I decided to upgrade, because the kilburn was excellent, but i wanted something that packed more of a punch in the audio department.
Marshall guitar amp in a portable package.
Competitiveness
Much better than the smaller marshall which is also very good.
Now, there are other speakers at this price point or less that sound loud and sound great.
I had this one and the newest one, the woburn ii side by side for a comparison.
While the lows produced by the stanmore go down to 45 herz, the woburn's go down to 35 herz, which needs to be heard to be full... Read More
