Frankly i learned things i might have been a little happier not knowing like the backbiting and animosity between the writers and artists who created the comics and the publishers and editors who got them into the hands of the public

Its not an easy task creating anything and comics are apparently harder than many other forms of writing because there are so many people who have a stake in it including the readers

I put away my fascination with masked superheroes though but like the rest of the world i found it to be an itch that i just couldnt scratch whenever the first really good superhero movies im talking the first two raimidirected spiderman films came out earlier this century

It just seems interesting that he gets so much of the credit at the expense of artists and writers who were there with him at various junctures

Like i said i was a comics fan in the late eighties and the book confirms my suspicions that while that era was an auspicious one it is dubious in its legacy multiple attempts to flood the markets with extra special issues with negligible special features to appeal to collectors seemed to doom marvel and most of the comics industry in the nineties

This book gets down into the weeds from time to time and its hard to say if this would appeal to noncomics fans because it deals a lot not with the stories on the pages of the books but with the stories behind those stories
