Pros

This is a good value *. It's bigger than the 30 inch propane i got rid of. The legs are solid, and no wobble. Bbq mats work well for smoking things that don't sit on racks nicely.

Review is based on the quality of the product and the attention paid by masterbuilt to preparation for shipping - not on the shippers carelessness. It works terrific. Overall, good build quality, and relatively easy to assemble.

This is an electrical appliance that should not be left out in the elements year round. At higher temps it is more accurate and steady. After the inital break in procedure the temp gauge seems more accurate.

The *'s airflow and smoke management can be modded. I made a sheet metal smokestack on the exhaust to keep smoke off the controller. Still get * good flavor, just no smoke ring.

A 20 x 1/2 inch dowell fits in the rack grooves when hanging sausage and snacksticks. Unit has a large capacity so i can do 4+ racks of ribs simultaneously or 2 or 3 briskets simultaneously. Also, a benefit is the flavor of wood chip smoke.

Cons

Manufacturing malfunction not allowing it to vent properly so the steam gets caught in the time/temp setting. The vent is completely closed to keep any heat from escaping.

As of 1/5/24 masterbuilt has not responded. I hope to try to get a response because i plan to continue to communicate but at this time it's looking to be the biggest let down since using amazon.

But only after switching to using pellets in stead of wood chips. Briskets cost too much to take the chance on having it ruined by shoddy workmanship. Took the meat off, cooked it in the oven, was very disappointed.

It has been one of the best outdoor cooking investments i've made.

Great quality and easy to follow instructions

The smoker body cavity has (2) smoke/moisture escape point on the top of the body.

After (4) hours of new use, my control shorted out.

Price

All for a good value as well, i'll have to use it a few times and come back to this review and add what i find out.

So if you want to venture into smoking foods, this unit is simple to operate, thus a good starter system for a low initial cost.

For the price, i took the gamble that there wasn't more internal damage and this was just cosmetic.

Shipping

The shippers/fedex dumps it off on your doorstep and escapes before you can get to the box.

Still have not received a response from masterbuilt on the shorted control/display.

Just pray that it survives the shipping.
