Pros & Cons
Pros
The pivoting head is a nice feature also. I'm ordering a backup as a gift to my daughter.
This thermometer is very accurate. You get the preset temperatures you need programmed in. Built in steam shield also has lots of valuable info printed on it for reference.
Cons
Company's limited warranty insists that i send it back freight prepaid at which time they will repair or replace at their discretion.
Original 5-year-old version is the most accurate. Not only are they inaccurate but the readout is illegible. Screen turns black or readout just fades out at 210 degrees. Both display low battery despite replacement with new duracell batteries.
This thermometer is awkward and dangerous, as it is top-heavy and the gripper is too weak to hold it in place. Superheat leads to erroneous temperatures when the thermometer touches the bottom. Still off by 4 degrees f.
Highlights
Quality
It reads accurately, is easy to use and has proved durable.
The probe is plenty long, very well made and includes a clip to secure the unit to the side of your pot.
I would only recommend this for experienced candy makers not first timers
Have to remove the battery when not using, turns on when something is pressed against it in the drawer.
Price
It is fairly cheap so there certainly could be inaccuracies from unit to unit.
Shipping
I received my order sooner than i expected which was great.
