Youve got to turn the receiver on first and then the transmitter and the set high set low temp controls are a little wonky but all in all i dont know how i ever smoked meat without this thermometer

Also as mentioned by other reviewers the alarm setup can be a little bit of a fiddle the first time but the description that came with it sets out how to operate and program the unit

The food probe does measure 2 hotter in the boiling water test the oven probe is spot on at 212

Setting temp alarms could be a bit easier to navigate there is also no way to go in reverse to set temperatures that is if you want to set a lower alarm temp you have to go all the way past 500 or whatever the upper alarm temp is to start back at 0

I was hesitant to buy this set as there are many reviews claiming the product is not durable however after some searching around it appears most of these negative reviews are from people who misuse the products and break the probes by soaking them in water and getting the contacts wet
