Meditations removes urgency of ambition, spurs urgency of social action. Proper reading for clergy, philosophy, or ethics students. His writings hold true the the stoical perspective and bring thoughtful advice for the reader to ponder.

The sentences are long, and the clauses are numerous. Terrible translation with a bunch of gibberish typos.
The only reason i will finish this is out of discipline, tenacity, and flat out spite. Much of what marcus aurelius says in the text is mundane. Turned into the stoic idea of virtue.
This one blows. Don't order the pretorian books paperback. This book is not conducive to travel, or really any practical reading whatsoever.

I appreciate the translation of this edition it is quite easy to read although it clearly is not in any way an easy read but i find the story drags on unnecessarily with battle descriptives and dialogue repetitions

My husband assures me that when he read it in school there werent so many details and i cant say if thats his recollection or if his memory is accurate but that is the one thing that somewhat bothers me about this book

I recently purchased the hays translation for a friend and for myself to try that and i dont like it much

It is easier to understand each passage in the hays but very few leave me impressed at their eloquence or leave a lasting impression
