Pros
The penguin is silky soft, stands upright thanks to an internal foam support, but is still soft and cuddly and plushy. My kids love to cuddle with him. The fur is sooooooo soft that you find yourself unintentionally * its fur.
Give your child something that will encourage their imagination. My grandson absolutely loves his emperor penguin.
Details are excellent--the fabric feel and look varies by part. The contoured thigh muscles look amazing. The coloring is very realistic as well.
The melissa and doug giant emperor penguin is huge, and cuddly. It is a bit taller than the doorknob. We have a couple of other oversized plushes, one being doug and melissa's moose and this fits right in.
Frederick around all awkwardly causes is absolutely priceless. The only downfall is he is a bit pricey.
Cons
The sewing is terrible. All of the seams are loose with random gaps.

I think the price is a little high for what it is, but as a gift it would put a smile on anyone's face!
Seriously though, this guy is totally worth $80.
Packaging/appearance
Bought for our granddaughter for christmas gift and she loves it!
Watching the excitement as this gigantic box was opened and discovering what was inside just made me smile.
So either get it gift wrapped or be on the lookout for it if you're getting it as a surprise for someone!
Naturally, i thought i would have to exert a great deal of force to move the package but luckily the contents were light.
Competitiveness
Since pengie's so tall, it's easy to store it just standing against the wall.
Overall, melissa and doug hit it out of the park with this giant emperor penguin.
